Meet Your Director of Nursing, Kellie Raines

Kellie Raines began working at Valley Hope of Chandler on September 24, 2018 as the Director of Nursing. Her responsibilities entail: overseeing the nursing department and ensuring it is running efficiently and effectively. Her job duties also include making sure patients are being provided the best care and safety.

Kellie received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Greenville Technical College in 2010; She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016.

When asked about her favorite aspect of her job, she replied, “I enjoy the vastness of my job. Leadership gets to be a part of the collaboration of all our teams, working together to provide the best care for the patients, both as a group and individually. The patients are my heart.”

Kellie shared her excitement for the future of the Hope Builder Club and touched on some benefits the HBC provides. “I think the HBC will help build a community of fellowship, promote sobriety, build relationships, and provide accountability. I think it’s amazing. Patients get to rebuild the relationships in their life by starting with us, and then with each other”.

Arizona Volleyball Activity

On Saturday March 9th from 1PM – 3PM the Hope Builder Club of Arizona held their first activity of the year. It was a beautiful, warm day in the Valley of the Sun filled with laughter and smiles. A volleyball tournament was held at Valley Hope of Chandler for alumni and patients. The kitchen staff graciously made hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwursts for the attendees to enjoy before volleyball began.

Dig, set, spike...well perhaps not exactly in that order, but 14 patients and alumni joined together to participate in a competitive and exciting game! There were 2 teams of 7, providing an extra member on each team for subbing in and out during rotation. Each game was played to 15 for the sake of time, and teams would switch sides after every game. About 4 or 5 games were played overall, and it was a great time.

Participating in enjoyable activities is key to sustaining long-term recovery. Hope Builder Club activities provide the opportunity to try new things while building a community of support. Events may include activities such as hiking, bowling, museum visits, art classes, barbeques, golf tournaments, motorcycle rides, community service projects, etc.

Thank you to all alumni and patients that participated and made this event a success!
